South West Sydney researchers recognised as Heroes of Liverpool

Liverpool Mayor Ned Mannoun and Deputy Mayor Tony Hadchiti hosted the Heroes of Liverpool Awards at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre last month. These special awards recognise outstanding members of our community; people who have gone above and beyond their day-to-day work to improve the lives of others. The 2016 Heroes of Liverpool Award recipients included several researchers from the district:

  • Professor Michael Barton OAM, the Research Director of the Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research and recipient of the Gold Medal from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists.
  • Dr James Toh, general surgeon and colorectal fellow at Liverpool Hospital who received the Mark Killingback Prize from the Royal Australian College of Surgeons and was Liverpool’s 2016 Citizen of the Year. Dr Toh is a researcher at the Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research and is a lecturer at the University of New South Wales and Western Sydney University.
  • Annie Walsh, Senior Podiatrist at Liverpool Hospital and a Finalist for the 2016 NSW Young Woman of the Year Award.

Congratulations to all the Heroes of Liverpool!
